…. I have stitch marks from the operation for almost a month … r nThe thread has not been removed … even though two weeks ago the doctor once said the thread could be removed … is it dangerous to remove the thread for too long?

1 Answer:

Hello M_yah, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com

First of all I want to confirm first, when you checked with the doctor 2 weeks ago, did the doctor give any specific reason why your doctor did not remove the thread right away?

There are generally 2 types of surgical sutures, absorbable threads and non-absorbable threads. Absorbable threads will disappear on their own after a few weeks and do not need to be removed, while non-absorbable threads will need to be removed once the wound has closed.

Non-absorbable threads that are left untreated in time can adhere to the surrounding tissue, making them more difficult to remove later. If left any longer, the threads will be immersed in the skin and will be recognized as "foreign objects" by the body's immune cells. Later in the place where the thread is immersed, an abscess pocket (pocket filled with pus) will form so that the bag can break and drain pus along with the foreign object.

If 2 weeks ago your doctor suggested removing the thread, then you should immediately return to the doctor to do the removal of the thread.

So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
