Hello, I want to ask if the receipt from the bank or the receipt contains dangerous substances when held, and causes chronic diseases, is that true? How to respond? Please explain and the solution.

1 Answer:

Hi Silmanovi,

Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.

Receipts from banks and shopping facilities are mostly printed using thermal paper. According to several sources, this thermal paper contains BPA (bisphenol A) which has the potential to disrupt the hormonal balance in the body. In the long term, excessive exposure to BPA in the body is feared to increase the risk of cancer cell formation, including breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

Some literature states, the use of thermal paper is dangerous, considering the contact between BPA and the skin can cause the BPA to absorb and stay in the body for a long time, even longer than if the BPA is ingested through eating or drinking utensils.

But actually, this potential danger still needs to be further verified. Because, a lot of other literature also mentions, that the BPA content in thermal paper is relatively small, which is less than 4 micrograms, so that its potential to cause health problems is very small. For this reason too many countries allow the use of thermal paper in a variety of purposes.

Hope this helps ...
