The Dangers Of Taking Drugs That Have Expired 6 Years?
I want to ask what are the dangers / effects of taking drugs that have expired for 6 years? Because I bought it at a shop and just saw the expiry date in 2012
The expiry date of the drug is determined based on certain resistance tests carried out by the manufacturer. After the expiration date, the manufacturer does not guarantee the efficacy and safety of the drug.
The effect of taking an expired medication that is too long is likely that you will not get the desired effect of the drug. So, the drugs you take may not cause any effect. Although there are other dangers, for example, the medicine is moldy, contains germs, etc., it is usually rare if the medicine packaging is still well closed.
If you've already taken the drug, but only a little, generally will not be harmful. But if you have certain diseases that require regular treatment, it may be dangerous for your disease to be not treated properly.
If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or other symptoms appear, you should immediately go to the nearest emergency room and don't forget to tell the medicine you are taking so that the doctor can recognize its effects and determine the appropriate treatment.
If you experience a complaint, it would be better to check with your doctor before buying medicines so that the same thing doesn't happen.
