I seem to be suffering from u003cspan style = “color: # 2a2a2a; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; ” u003eTemporo-Mandibular Disorder (TMD), I’m confused what doctor should I go to, is it a dentist or is there a specialist who deals with jaws? u003c / span u003e
Temporo mandibular joint disorder or disorders of the jaw can arise and are accompanied by several symptoms such as:
Pain when opening your mouth, yawning, chewing or laughing
Stiffening of the jaw if you open your mouth too wide
Make a sound in the jaw
Causes pain to the ear
Swelling in the painful area
This condition is influenced or caused by various things such as trauma or impact, changes in the shape of the jaw, inflammation of the joints, joint fatigue, tooth biting habits and other causes. To overcome this, some treatment is needed but beforehand it is necessary to do an examination by a dentist who is an orthodontist so that both a physical examination and supporting examinations such as X-rays, print of the jaw shape and others are needed and later it will be determined whether action or retainer is needed to overcome interference with TMJ or corrected if there is a tooth loss by a prosthodontist dentist.
Some other efforts that can be done to help deal with TMJ pain are not supporting the chin, avoiding opening the mouth too wide, eating softer foods, not letting loose teeth without tooth replacement, or taking pain relievers such as paracetamol.
