Is watching in the dark bad for the eyes?

1 Answer:

Hello, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com

Watching TV in the dark can cause eye strain and fatigue more quickly. Another side effect that can accompany is headaches. However, watching TV in the dark has not been shown to cause permanent damage to the eyes (such as causing refractive errors - minus eyes, plus eyes, or cylinders, or nerve damage to the eyes).

Other things that are often cited as permanently damaging to the eye but not proven and are just a myth include watching TV too closely, reading in the dark, or reading too closely. All of them can cause eye fatigue, but will not cause damage to the eyes.

So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
