The determinant of color in hair and skin is the melanin pigment. Melanin is produced by melanocyte pigment cells. In black hair, active melanocyte cells secrete melanin. Melanin rises to the surface of the hair, giving it a black color. In gray hair or white hair, melanocyte cells do not actively produce melanin. If the hair that was previously white is pulled up to the roots, the growth of the next hair can remain white or become black. Depending on the activity of melanocyte cells produce melanin.
Thus, hopefully useful.
