The Leg In The Cast Is Often Painful?
In the morning, 3 weeks ago I broke my leg, my orthopedic doctor put a cast on my leg. However, sometimes I feel pain in my leg. Is that natural,? R nThen the heel part of me often hurts, like a wound. Will it affect the healing of my bones? Thanks.
Fractures can occur when there is a hard impact, it could also be because the bones are indeed brittle, for example in cases of bone cancer and osteoporosis. When a fracture occurs, the doctor can provide treatment to help the bones fuse properly. Broken bones are handled by using special bandages, casts, and surgery.
The cast is placed to stabilize the bone, fix the bone, protect the bone so that the fracture healing process can take place properly. When the cast is attached, it should also be treated, for example, if the plaster cast is kept from getting wet, if it feels itchy in the cast you can blow it with a fan or hairdryer, keep the cast clean, and start doing physical exercises after being allowed by the treating doctor.
If you feel pain, it can be due to the effect of the fracture, irritation of the skin covered in the cast, and swelling. To reduce pain you can try taking painkillers that are given by a doctor or over-the-counter paints, such as paracetamol.
If it still hurts, I suggest that you go to an orthopedic doctor again so that you can evaluate the cause of your pain. The doctor can then provide further treatment for you according to your condition.
Hope this helps,
