Hello … it’s been 8 days ago that I fell from the motorbike and my feet were blistered on the top I cleaned using hot water for 3 days then in the morning when my leg was swollen I wanted nothing to give it just a compressed water, it just kept on on my 4th day compress with ice, I took amoxilin, the swelling is getting better but the pain is still there why is it? Is the wound serious? R nThank you
Blisters or in medical terms referred to as vulnus eschoriatum are superficial sores that affect only the epidermis (the outermost part) of the skin. In the treatment of abrasions, you can:
Routinely clean the wound with Nacl fluids or intravenous fluids 2 times a day. Clean the wound thoroughly and try to avoid residual dirt. Avoid rubbing the area too tightly, as this can cause new cuts
After cleaning, give a disinfectant such as povidone iodine to prevent infection
Keep the wound open, but still make sure it is clean and not exposed to dust or dirt
Keep keeping the wound dry and clean, avoid getting wet
Usually the wound will begin to dry up after 3-5 days depending on the extent of the wound and the depth of the wound. For healing, the duration also depends on the depth, area, and size of the wound and whether there are other contributing factors that affect wound healing such as a history of diabetes, blood vessel disorders and others. If there is pain, you can take pain relievers such as paracetamol according to the dosage listed on the package. Signs of infection in the wound that need attention include the area around the wound that is red, swollen and painful, pus coming out of the wound, and fever. If you experience signs of infection immediately consult a doctor for a direct physical examination and further treatment can be given.
