The Life Span Of Breast Milk That Is Put In A Bottle And Refrigerator?
Hello doctor, I want to ask, when breastmilk is stored in a milk bottle without putting it in the fridge, how long does it last? I have read in the article it lasts 6-8 hours, but I want to mastiin properly or not, and if the breast milk is no longer fresh, what kind of character is that? thanks doctor
Hello Ms. Nana,
In brief, the following are the principles of breastfeeding:
Hold up to 6 hours if placed at room temperature around 25 degrees Celsius or cooler
Hold up to 24 hours when stored in a cooler box plus an ice pack / ice pack (with no opening and closing and the temperature is stable)
Hold for 4-5 days if placed in the refrigerator at 4 degrees Celsius or lower
Hold up to 6 months if stored in a freezer (in a two-door refrigerator or freezer-specific refrigerator) whose temperature is -18 degrees or lower.
Need special attention that in Indonesia the room temperature is often hotter than 25 degrees Celsius, so that the storage time is shorter. The faster the milk the better milk is given. Breast milk that has been thawed after freezing should not be frozen again.
Actually it is difficult to determine whether breast milk is not good, but you can use your senses, for example if the smell and color of breast milk change, do not give it again. The frozen milk is then thawed and the smell will usually change, due to the natural process of enzyme destruction but can still be given to infants. Not all babies like breast milk that is frozen for a long time, so it should be fresher the better it is given to the baby and the womb is certainly better.
Tips for storing breast milk:
Give a clear label containing the milking time
Do not store in a hot place, if not stored in the refrigerator in the refrigerator door because it is vulnerable to changes in temperature
If it will not be given within 4 days, immediately put it in the freezer
Store breast milk in small amounts / little or per serving to avoid getting in and out of the refrigerator
If it will be given to child care / daycare, write your child's name clearly in the ASI bag / bottle
