The Possibility Of Getting Diphtheria Again?
I once contracted diphtheria, am I still likely to get diphtheria again? So if it’s possible what should I do to avoid contracting it again?
Hello Moh Rinaldo, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Diphtheria is a disease caused by a bacterial infection oforynebacterium diphtheria which can attack the nose, throat, tonsils and skin, but most often occurs in the throat and tonsils.
Even though you have been exposed to this bacterial infection, it is likely that you are affected again later on because it is not an infection that can only be affected once in a lifetime.
To prevent recurrence of diphtheria infection is to prevent re-exposure with these bacteria, namely by avoiding contact with people suffering from / suspected diphtheria.
In addition to preventing contact, you can also consult a doctor directly about whether you need a diphtheria vaccination or not based on your history and current condition.
I hope this helps.
