The Possibility Of Having Offspring In A Husband And Wife Suffering From Syphilis?
, if a couple of syphilis sufferers still can have offspring …?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically syphilis infection can increase the risk of infertility in men or women. Syphilis in men can cause inflammation of the epididymis (storage and maturation of sperm) or also called epididymitis. Epididymitis that is not treated properly can cause scarring or scar tissue, which in turn will cause these sperm ducts to become blocked and indirectly reduce male fertility. Syphilis in women who are not treated properly can cause pelvic inflammatory disease (infection of the cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries). Just like before, inflammation and infection in these organs can cause a decrease in fertility in women. Even if this woman succeeds in getting pregnant, the presence of syphilis infection in women can increase the risk of miscarriage and the baby to die in the womb.
As explained earlier, what can actually happen is only fertility disorders, and this will not necessarily cause the couple to not have children. But if this couple has syphilis that has long been and are not treated properly, then the possibility of the couple to have children can indeed decrease. Therefore the couple should both do a doctor's examination for further management.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
