The Right Eye Was Red And Swollen For 1 Week?
Hello doctor. R nSdh 1 This week I have an eye sore. Initially only my right eye was red and swollen. But a few days later my left eye was also like that. I have checked with the doctor regarding the medication, amoxicillin, Diclofenac sodium, chlorpheniramine maleate and chloramphenicol -1% ointment. But nothing has changed. I wonder why?
Swelling and red eyes can be accompanied by other complaints such as pain, itching, watery eyes. If you end up in both eyes, the most common possibility is that you have conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the clear membrane of the eye so that the whites of the eyes appear reddish. Conjunctivitis can be caused by:
allergic viruses (can be triggered by dust, pollen and dead animal skin cells) irritating bacteria (for example due to chlorine, shampoo) You can also experience other complaints, such as:
eyes are more sensitive to light burning sensation in the eyes puffy eyes in the morning (especially in allergic conjunctivitis) a clogging sensation in the eye (sandy eyes) frequent tears sticky lashes (especially in bacterial conjunctivitis) In severe conjunctivitis (suspected due to bacteria), the doctor will prescribe antibiotic eye drops. Complaints of itching can be relieved with antihistamines, and if necessary steroids. The diagnosis of red and swollen eyes is not only due to conjunctivitis. Another possible cause is a stye (hordeolum), inflammation of parts of the eye such as the cornea and iris. To determine the cause of your complaint, you can visit an ophthalmologist so that it can be examined and treated properly.
As a precaution:
avoid wearing contact lenses first wash your hands after touching your eyes (or avoid touching and rubbing your eyes) don't use eye makeup first avoid exposure to dust and dirt to your eyes.
