The Right Rules For Consuming Phlegm Cough Medicine?
Morning, say hello. I coughed up phlegm, when I went to the clinic near the boarding house I was given a complete medication with antibiotics. apparently until the medicine runs out, my cough has not yet healed. then I seek treatment at another place. then I was given medicine with amoxcillin 500 mg. Is the antibiotic drug that I previously needed to spend or just move with the current drug?
Good afternoon, thanks for asking at HealthReplies.com. Basically, the use of antibiotics must be done very carefully and should not be arbitrary because it can have a bad impact in the long run, so your steps by asking us are appropriate.
But there is still information that needs to be straightened out again about the drug you mentioned. Specifically in the section where you mention that after the drug has run out, your cough has not healed yet, but then you ask whether you should continue the old antibiotics or the new ones, as if the medicine hasn't run out like you mentioned before.
If what you mean by that drug is just cough medicine, but the antibiotics are still there, finish the old antibiotic as recommended by the doctor beforehand. This is to avoid treatment that has not been completed. But if there are other drugs besides antibiotics given by the new doctor, you may start now. Later if the old antibiotics are used up and your complaints do not improve, you should ask the doctor now whether you should continue with the antibiotics.
But if what you mean is that all the antibiotics were used up and you are asked to start taking new antibiotics, if your doctor already knows that you have been given antibiotics before, then it doesn't matter if you continue using it immediately.
We really cannot give a definitive answer because we do not fully know your condition. So if you are confused or doubtful, the best step is to revisit the last doctor who treated you by bringing all the medicine you have. Meanwhile, keep living a healthy lifestyle by avoiding stress, cigarette smoke, adequate rest, drink plenty of warm water, and swim if you can. So, hopefully answering your question.
