The Right Time For Examination Of Thyroid Function In Patients With Hyperthyroidism?
I want to consult in 2012, I have hyperthyroidism but I was treated for only a month after that I didn’t control + treatment anymore. This year 2019 last month I checked TSH + T4, etc. My results are normal. I want to ask for thyroid blood pressure, how about the time interval? Is it 6 months or once a year. Thanks for the answer
Hello Dwidevi24, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Examination of thyroid function in patients with hyperthyroidism is highly recommended to be done every 3-4 weeks when treatment has just begun that aims to see the response of treatment, and it is recommended to do a rigorous evaluation during the first 1 year of treatment.
Henceforth, if the treatment has been responded to and gives good results, a repeat examination of the thyroid hormone should not be done as often as the first year of treatment, and can be done once a year or every few years depending on your condition and doctor's consideration.
If you want to do further thyroid hormone tests, you should consult with an internal medicine specialist who has treated your condition beforehand to evaluate when is the best time for you to re-examine the thyroid hormone.
I hope this helps.
