The Scar Still Feels Pain Until It’s Numb?
I was di.4 months ago my thumb was sliced by a kater and it still aches and feels numb. Then if you are in pain and it feels like you have a lump. Why is that?
Hello Diah, thanks for asking.
The skin has very many nerve endings. That is, for every surface area of the skin that is only a few millimeters, the nerve density in the skin is very high. Therefore, when the skin is injured, it is likely that there will be a number of nerve endings that are cut off. Sometimes during the healing process, some nerve endings are not completely repaired.
This causes the wound that has healed still often feels painful. Symptoms can occur for several weeks or months, but they can also disappear for several months. As long as you don't experience other symptoms such as intense pain, swelling, and redness, then you don't need to worry too much. You can try applying an analgesic cream labeled green that is sold freely, or you can also cold compress on the area of pain. Please remember that when you compress, wrap the ice in a towel or cloth, do not let the ice touch the skin because it will aggravate the pain. If your symptoms get worse after a few days or weeks, contact a neurologist.
Hopefully this answer is useful for you. Regards.
