r I want to ask, I experienced changes in the skin on the corners of my eyelids at first like the skin peeled off then fell off so that there was a white formation. It hurts when I hold it and it doesn’t itch, it’s been like this for 1 month. It used to be like this in elementary/junior high school but it disappeared by itself, now it doesn’t disappear.rnWhat do you think about this? Thanks very much

Hi Chanita,

Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.

Normally, the skin (including the skin around the eyes) will regenerate once every 28 days and then be replaced by new skin cells. This regeneration speed should run in a balanced way so that the skin does not appear peeling or even thinning. If the skin looks peeling and appears whitish spots, this may indicate a very fast regeneration process. The cause could be due to a disease called psoriasis. This condition reflects a chronic inflammation of the skin caused by an autoimmune disorder, so that the skin thickens, peels, and appears scaly and whitish. When the peeling skin is exfoliated forcibly, a wound can appear that feels sore when held.

Not only psoriasis, several other conditions as mentioned below can also show clinical symptoms similar to the complaints you mentioned:

Xerosis (dry skin) Seborrheic dermatitis (skin inflammation that causes scaly and peeling skin resembling dandruff) Tinea versicolor (phlegm) Cutaneous candidiasis (Candida sp. fungal infection) Impetigo (bacterial infection) Miliaria (prickly heat) Contact dermatitis Lichen planus Pityriasis rosea, etc. As mentioned above, the normal skin regeneration process lasts for 28 days. So, if the complaint lasts for up to 1 month, you should immediately go to a dermatologist. That way, you can identify what underlies your complaint and what kind of treatment is appropriate to overcome it, is it enough with drugs, or maybe need other medical measures, such as light therapy, and so on.

At this point, you shouldn't over-scratching or forcibly exfoliating the skin at the corners of your eyelids. Also avoid applying anything to the skin unless it is recommended by a doctor. If your skin is classified as dry, or if you are in a cold environment and dry air, use a moisturizer (moisturizer), but avoid getting it into your eyes. Wash your face regularly and do not use excessive cosmetics around the eyes. Make sure you drink a lot and eat more vegetables and fruits to nourish your skin.

Hope it helps ya..
