Assalamu alaikum, my pregnancy age is now 5w, I often feel nauseous and have headaches..to relieve it, I use safe care aromatherapy products on my forehead and neck. I have often inhaled it for the past 2 weeks, because it makes me feel good … is it safe?
Hello Adriana, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
Pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy often experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, back pain, and other symptoms that make the body feel uncomfortable. Using aromatherapy can sometimes help to relieve these symptoms. However, you must be careful in choosing the aromatherapy you use, because some types of aromatherapy can trigger uterine contractions.
Some types of aromatherapy that you should avoid in pregnancy include basil, rosemary, cedarwood, cinnamon, sage, cypress, clove, fennel, jasmine, lemongrass, parsley, peppermint, thyme, juniper, pennyroyal, oregano. Pay attention to the ingredients in your aromatherapy, if it contains one of the ingredients mentioned above, you should avoid using it.
You should also use aromatherapy not applied directly to the skin (especially if you use pure aromatherapy oils). You can rub it on a handkerchief and inhale the aroma every now and then. If you have doubts about the ingredients in your aromatherapy, take the aromatherapy to your Gynecologist and ask directly about the safety level.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
