The Use Of Contact Lenses For Eyes Minus The Cylinder?
I want to ask my eyes, my right cylinder is 0.50 Axis 160 and left is 0.50 Axis 160. What I want to ask is that my silender is classified as severe or not? And can I use contact lenses?
Hello Nova, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Cylinder eye or also called astigmatism is a condition where the cornea of the eye is not perfectly round (irregular). This causes the light captured by the retina of the eye (the layer behind the eyeball that serves to capture the light that enters the eye) to become unfocused at one point.
Astigmatism can be classified according to its severity:
Mild astigmatism <1.00 diopters Medium astigmatism 1.00 to 2.00 diopters Severe astigmatism 2.00 to 3.00 diopters Extreme astigmatism> 3.00 diopters
Seeing the size of your eyes, your astigmatism is still mild astigmatism. People who have astigmatism can be corrected using glasses or contact lenses. You can further discuss with the ophthalmologist who is examining you about your preferences (using glasses or contact lenses) so that you can make a prescription that is appropriate for your refraction size.
If you decide to use contact lenses, read the following article first about the risks of wearing contact lenses and how to care for contact lenses to be safe to use.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
