The Use Of Leucorrhoea During Young Pregnancy?
Good evening, I’m 15weeks pregnant and there’s vaginal discharge too. I was prescribed by a doctor to buy Fluomizin but looking for it in some of my local pharmacies. Then I was recommended by the Pharmacist to use Vagistin instead. But I read in one article that Vagistin should not be for Young Pregnant Women. My question is, can I use the Vagistin?
Hello Ummu Kyza, Thank you for the question.
Fluomizin is a drug containing dequalinium chloride which functions as an antiseptic to treat bacterial and fungal infections in the vagina. Research shows this drug is safe for use in pregnant women despite the limited research data. If needed, this medicine can be used according to your doctor's recommendations.
Vagistin is a drug containing metronidazole and nystatin that is used to treat bacterial and fungal infections. This drug is available in the form of bullet capsules that are inserted into the vagina. This drug should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy. If you cannot find a medication prescribed by your doctor, you should consult your obstetrician again. Don't change medications and don't use drugs that are not recommended by your doctor to avoid side effects for your fetus.
Please also do the following suggestions:
avoid intercourse with your husband until you recover
use clean underwear that easily absorbs sweat
immediately change your underwear if it is full of vaginal discharge
avoid using tight pants
avoid using feminine cleaners regularly
I hope this helps.
