The Wound Enlarged In The Kneecap After Being Scratched?
Tonight doctor, I asked permission, at first the external wound on the left side of my kneecap (patella) was small (due to mosquito bites), but unlucky because I initially scratched due to itching, the wound had now become quite large with a diameter of 2 , 5-3 cm long and shaped like a pear. As it enlarges, the wound sometimes comes out and out of concern, I clean my wound first and then give it Betadine. Now the wound is dry, but what worries me is that sometimes every time I stand up from the position of prostration during prayer (after the initial and final tahiyat), my knee joints read “crack” and after I search on the search engine most likely things it is due to an infection from my injury or arthritis (but I doubt the latter estimate because I am now 18 years old). What steps should I take? Should I go to the doctor for a direct check-up?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
The sound that is heard in the knee is called crepitus. Crepitus can occur due to friction between the soft bones in the knee joint or other soft tissue around the knee during joint movements. Crepitus is often heard when you bend your knees, for example when you are crouching, climbing stairs, sitting or standing from a sitting position. As long as crepitus is not accompanied by pain when you move your joints, there is nothing you need to worry about because this condition is completely normal and not dangerous.
To help reduce knee crepitus, you can do exercises that can help strengthen your thigh muscles, such as swimming, riding a bicycle, walking or jogging. If you feel other symptoms accompanying your crepitus (for example, pain when moving your knee or you feel your knee stiff, weak, or difficult to move), do an examination with an orthopedic doctor for further evaluation and management.
Regarding your wound, make sure you don't scratch your wound which has begun to dry again. Wounds that have begun to heal are often itchy. But if you scratch and peel the scab over the wound, your wound will open again and the risk of infection and the risk of scarring forming in the wound will be higher.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
