Things That Can Cause Brain Abscess?
Look, 5 years ago I had a brain abscess. During the healing process I was operated on because my abscess was too big, and the abscess sample was tested in the lab but the results of the bacteria that caused it were not found. After 3 months of treatment I was no longer strong enough to take antibiotics through a vein. So the doctor let me go home after seeing the results of the MRI that my abscess is shrinking and will go away on its own. Lately my head feels a little weird in the area where I had surgery, after I consulted a neurologist, the result was that my abscess was still a little bit so I was given the antibiotic avelox 400mg for 100 days, but after a week I took this medicine there was no significant change, My head still feels in the area of the former surgery. Now what I’m still curious about, the cause of the abscess as far as I know can be infections in the ears, sinuses, perforated teeth, but of the three reasons I have never experienced it. Is the cause of my abscess autoimmune? Because the result of the ANA IF test is 1:100, is it possible that it’s autoimmune? Or because of another disease. Thanks
Hi Yoga, Thank you for your question on HealthReplies.com
Brain abscess is a kind of bacterial and fungal infection, where there is pus in the brain. Those aged 10-35 years are susceptible. Some things that can cause brain abscess are:
History of head injuries to the head to the brain Infections in other bodies that spread to the brain via blood vessels Complications from surgery The presence of infections in other parts of the head such as the nose and ears Usually susceptible to patients who have weak immune systems, and there are birth defects, such as birth defects heart like tetralogy of pallot. The ANA IF examination is an examination method to detect autoantibodies in the blood using the indirect immunofluorescence (IF) method. The presence of ANA is a marker of an autoimmune process and is associated with several autoimmune disorders. If your ANA IF result 1;100 is a normal result, because the normal value is <= 1:100. However, it would be better if you consult a neurologist or neurosurgeon who treats you, because the doctor who treats you is the one who knows better about your current condition.
Some suggestions for you:
Take medicine from the doctor regularly, get enough rest, healthy lifestyle, keep your body clean, wash your hands, thank you, hopefully it will be useful. dr.Nurmarwiyah
