Complaints of shortness of breath can be caused by a variety of possibilities. In some conditions the symptoms can be accompanied by other complaints such as lumps / itching, sneezing, to heartburn. Some conditions that can cause shortness of breath include:
Problems with respiratory organs such as bacterial infections (tuberculosis, pneumonia), viruses (common cold, COVID-19), or other conditions (COPD, asthma, pleural effusion)
Heart problems such as myocarditis, heart failure, coronary heart disease, congenital heart disease
Problems in the digestive organs like GERD
Certain psychological problems such as depression, excessive anxiety, and frequent panic
Foreign object blockage
Being in a high place / plateau
To ensure this clearly requires a thorough examination by a doctor (medical interviews, physical examinations, and supporting examinations such as ECG, chest X-ray, blood examination). Therefore, if symptoms worsen, for example shortness of breath that does not subside with rest, or there is swelling in the body and so immediately contact your doctor for further treatment. However, if emergency symptoms have not been found, you are advised to stay at home and postpone seeing a doctor due to the current outbreak of Corona virus infection that is happening. Doing the things below can help reduce complaints:
Stay home and avoid traveling outside if it's not important
A healthy diet and drinking enough water
If complaints occur immediately sit or lie down
Avoid exposure to cigarettes and alcohol and other things that trigger shortness of breath
If you have had a history of traveling outside the area / abroad that has a case of infection, a history of contact with confirmed patients, or living in an area with a local transmission then immediately stay home, do social distancing, and contact the Ministry of health hotline or doctor at a health facility the closest.
That's all, hope it helps.
