Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com

Basically a pen that is attached to a broken bone does not have to be removed. The pen can be left alone if it does not cause certain interference. Indications for removing the pen are if the pen causes pain, the bones do not connect properly, the pen shifts (does not stick well), irritation or infection occurs around the pen, the pen interferes with movement, etc. If there are no such conditions, then the pen can be left in place.

Basically the pen is placed on the bone and around the bone there is indeed a muscle (or called "flesh"), but the muscle will not grow on the pen. The pen may be sticky with the surrounding soft tissue, but this is a normal process and is not dangerous and does not cause certain disturbances.

If indeed you want to take off your pen, then you can consult again with an orthopedic doctor. If the pen does not cause any disturbance, you may not remove the pen and just leave the pen attached to your bones. Whenever you feel discomfort in the pen installation area, you can consult again for planning the removal of the pen.

So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
