Tracheal Damage After 9 Months Tuberculosis Treatment?
I have just been declared cured of TB after 9 months of treatment, but the doctor said that there was damage to my trachea. Will TB when it heals leave scars on the lungs?
Good evening, thanks for asking at HealthReplies.com. In general, it really is possible. Some diseases, one of which is TB, can cause certain tissues such as 'crust' in the lungs that make it difficult for sufferers to breathe. If your TB is glandular TB in the neck, there may be damage to the trachea.
However, this is actually a complication of a disease and not everyone who gets TB will experience this. So our advice is to try to discuss with the doctor who treats you about whether this damage has been causing symptoms that bother you or not. If so, then ask what you can do to deal with it and if not, ask if staying silent could make it worse. I hope you and your family are always healthy.
That's all, hope it helps.
