Transfer Of Medical Records Of Dental Care?
Hello doctor, I’m Afira, 23 years old. I am currently undergoing Endodontic treatment / RCT in a country (not in Indonesia) because I am studying here. And the treatment process will be completed next month. If in 2 months I will return to stay in Indonesia again, but I am worried that while in Indonesia there will be an effect due to previous treatment (such as pain, etc.) and require me to visit the dentist / dental hospital u0026amp; mouth, is it important to ask for medical records about my teeth from a doctor here to then be taken to the destination doctor in Indonesia? And do you think there are certain procedures from both the doctor here and the doctor / destination hospital? U003cbr u003e Please explain, thank you. U003cbr u003e u003cbr u003e Regards.
Hello Afira, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Medical record is a complete record that contains the condition of a patient's illness, from complaints to treatment. Although the medical record contains various important records regarding the development of your dental care while abroad (where you currently perform treatment), please note that the medical record is something that is very confidential (only doctors and patients who are aware of its contents), and legally the medical record is only entitled to be owned by the hospital / where you do the therapy and may not be given to anyone or out of the place, especially only for the matter of transfer of treatment / referral. If there is a need for data contained in the medical record, the party holding the medical record will only provide a summary of the medical record, without providing an overall medical record. Therefore, it is very unlikely you are allowed to ask for medical records that exist outside the country to be brought to Indonesia.
If you feel worried you might experience complaints when you have settled back in Indonesia, then you should consult with your dentist who is treating you right now, is there any particular procedure that must be followed to continue the dental treatment in Indonesia. And it is highly recommended to ask the hospital or your dentist in Indonesia, whether there are certain things needed to continue the dental treatment, so that if necessary you already have all the necessary data when you have returned to Indonesia.
I hope this helps.
