Transmission Of Herpes Labialis To Animals And To Fellow Humans?
I am suffering from herpes labialis. At that time I forgot so I kissed my pet cat. Will my labial herpes be transmitted to my cat? Or herpes can only be transmitted to fellow humans? thank you
Hello Firda, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Cats can indeed be infected with the Herpes virus as well, but the Herpes virus that can infect cats of different types with the Herpes virus that infects humans. Therefore, herpes disease that you suffer from will not be transmitted to your cat. The herpes labialis that you suffer from can be transmitted to fellow humans through direct contact, either with herpes lesions (for example if kissing or having oral sex) or through shared objects that are contaminated with the virus (for example using shared eating utensils, drinking from the same straw , etc).
For more details about herpes infections in cats, it would be more appropriate if you ask directly with a veterinarian.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
