I’m Yohanes, 19 years old, I’m currently taking isotret acne medication from the SPKK doctor in Jakarta. Now this is approximately the 2nd month I take the drug continuously every day. A few pimples have appeared but the redness is very much (considering that I purged all the way in the first month) now the problem is I want to get rid of the red acne scars with 0.1% vitacid, can it be used and is it effective for red acne scars? Thank you

Hello kenyo98, thanks for the question for HealthReplies.com

Isotretinoin is a drug that is a vitamin A derivative that is used to treat acne, especially cystic acne and moderate to severe acne. This drug has a side effect of drying the skin of the face and lips, so its use together with drugs such as vitacid (which both contain vitamin A derivatives, namely retinoic acid), is not recommended. Retinoic acid also has the side effect of making the skin dry. Taking oral isotretinoin along with topical retinoic acid will cause your skin to become very dry, red, itchy, and can become swollen.

You should first discuss with your dermatologist before you use the drug.

That's all the information from me, I hope it's enough to answer
