Treating Prolonged Cantengan?
ass., I have been affected by paronychia since I was a child and have been operated on 2 times on my two toes, but both of them keep coming back. and I decided to overcome it by cutting my own toenails into my flesh, and thank God it has been successful and safe for several months, and so on. but lately my toenails are getting harder and harder to cut myself using a razor blade, and now it’s too deep to grow and cannot be reached by a razor blade anymore, then a wound like a cross across the top of the right side of my thumb due to the nail. What should I do now? please direct me.
Good afternoon, thanks for the question
Insertion or ingrown toenail is caused by the use of footwear that is too narrow, the wrong gait, deformity of the toes, cutting nails that are too deep, or congenital variations in the nail contour. Sometimes the condition of osteochondroma can also be a cause especially in young patients. Infection of the nail edge can also accompany this ingrown toenail condition, which is called paronychia.
In this case, partial removal of the nail is a therapeutic method that is often applied. Before the nail is removed, the site to be operated on will be given a local anesthetic injection. Then after part of the nail is removed, the finger will be given phenol fluid.
The theory is that the administration of phenol after nail extraction is recommended compared to nail extraction only in cases where recurrence occurs. Phenol solution can permanently destroy the surrounding nail matrix so that it is expected to prevent recurrence.
Please do further consultation with your doctor to get adequate treatment. Avoid using tools that are not sterile or do the nail extracting independently because it is feared to be the entrance to pathogenic organisms so that it can further aggravate the existing conditions.
That's all, hope you can help
