Treating Smelly Water Coming Out Of The Ear In A 4-year-old Child?
In the afternoon I want to ask if the medicine for a 4 year old child comes out of the ear and smells bad. Is it okay to give H2O2 drops?
Good evening, thanks for asking at HealthReplies.com. H2O2 or hydrogen peroxide is often used to treat ear disorders, generally to soften earwax to make it easier to remove. But not all ear problems can be treated with H2O2. And not all symptoms of discharge from the ear and smell are caused by the same cause.
These symptoms can appear due to fungal infections, tearing of the eardrum, middle ear infection, and the entry of foreign objects in the ear. So basically, don't put any medicine in your child's ear without the doctor's advice.
Our advice, take your child to an ENT doctor for further examination. Because if, for example, your child's eardrum is perforated, then the H2O2 will only pass through the ear canal and have no effect and go straight to the esophagus to be swallowed later.
Meanwhile, avoid putting any liquid or object into your child's ear, especially cotton buds. Hope your child gets well soon.
That's all, hope it helps.
