Treatment For TB Peritonitis Sufferers?
Is the treatment of TB peritonitis 6 months enough? I just finished the treatment for 6 months, only I read it, some say it takes 1 year. I have been taking medicine for 6 months and the people from the puskesmas say it’s enough, but I’m afraid that there are still tb germs. because my stomach is abdominal, so there is no laboratory check, so it is unknown whether there are still germ tb or not. what should i do? Is it enough for only 6 months?
Hello Abu, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Treatment for extrapulmonary tuberculosis, including tuberculosis peritonitis, is the same as treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis, which is the administration of OAT (antituberculosis drugs) for at least 6 months. Exceptions to the duration of this treatment only addressed the treatment of bone tuberculosis (6-9 months) and tuberculosis meningitis (9-12 months). Research shows that the success of treatment given for 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months in extrapulmonary tuberculosis is the same.
Therefore, if you are currently undergoing treatment for 6 months, your treatment is sufficient and can be stopped.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
