Treatment For Wounds After Being Bitten By A Rat?
Hello, 1 week ago my left little finger was bitten by a rat, the wound was quite deep and had been treated for the wound. 3-5 days later my wound improved. but after that around my left wrist I felt a little aching. Is that related to the mouse bite?
Hello Pranitaputria, thank you for asking.
Wounds caused by rat bites certainly have many risks. Bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections are always the risk. Are you referring to wound management by trained health workers? If so, after treatment of the wound, the doctor will prescribe oral medication or topical medication as a preventative measure. If not, then it is possible that wound management is not optimal, resulting in subsequent infections.
Infection can spread to other areas of the hand. Another possibility is, there is no relationship between bite injuries with complaints of wrist pain. Pain may be caused by muscle injury due to misuse, tendon or ligament injury, or nerve compression.
Consult this matter with your doctor. The doctor will assess the possibility of infection, such as redness, swelling, pain, or abscess. Your doctor may also check blood samples in the lab, looking for signs of infection. Please do not start taking antibiotics without doctor's advice. This is a risk of side effects and the risk of drug-resistant bacteria. Keep the wound clean by cleaning the wound with clean water 2-3 times a day. Apply antiseptic solution, then cover the wound with clean gauze.
Thus the short answer from me, hopefully you are helped. Regards.
