Areas of skin that is dry and cracked are getting wider and wider to spread to other legs. What do you think my mother is suffering from and how to handle it. Thank you
Hello Rahmah Depisari,
Itching on the backs of the feet can be caused by some of the following skin diseases:
Atopic dermatitis / eczema, numularis dermatitis
Apart from skin diseases, some other systemic diseases can also cause itching on the skin (including the legs) such as diabetes mellitus, kidney or liver disorders. A physical examination of your skin by a doctor needs to be done to establish the right diagnosis. In addition, the doctor will ask when the first complaint arises, then the shape and development of the skin disorder, triggering factors for itching, history of other diseases, similar complaints in family members, as well as a history of treatment that has been done before.
Handling of skin diseases depends on the underlying cause. As much as possible do not scratch the skin. Cut your fingernails and wash your hands, so that scratching does not cause secondary infections of the skin. Clean the area of skin and dry it with a tissue / clean cloth. Compress with clean cold water can temporarily reduce itching. Your doctor may give you topical medication, oral medication to reduce itching, and treat wounds. Use these medicines according to doctor's instructions.
Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
