Treatment Of The Penis After Circumcision?
Good afternoon doctor. My nephew was circumcised 2 days ago by laser circumcision, from a circumcised person who had no bandage on his penis. During the interval of 2 days, I have taken ciprofluosaxin and paracetamol. And after urinating, usually a drop of povidone iodine dipenisnya. And 2 days also a whitish layer appears slightly yellow, no liquid, odorless and not itchy (I suspect this is the former povidone iodine dripped directly). Guess what is that? And what are the specific ways to maintain cleanliness of a newly circumcised penis? Do you need to drop povidone iodine and how to administer it correctly?
Hello Diana, thanks for the question for HealthReplies.com
The following is how to treat wounds after circumcision:
Before touching to clean a wound, make sure you always wash your hands with soap. Also wash your hands when you are done treating the wound.
Wash the wound with warm water regularly, no need to wash it with soap, dry it with gauze carefully (don't use cotton or tissue).
You don't need to douse the wound with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or povidone iodine, as these can cause the wound to dry longer and heal slowly.
Avoid using tight underwear on children, if the child feels pain due to the friction of the wound with your underwear, you can wrap the wound using sterile gauze.
If the wound sticks to gauze or underwear, do not pull it roughly, but moisten the area with warm water so that it is easier to remove.
The wound should be kept dry and clean. If the child uses wet bandages and bandages, change the bandages immediately.
The whitish discharge around the wound may be pus. To be sure, you should take your nephew to the doctor, especially if you notice redness around the wound, swelling, pain, discharge or a bad smell, or bleeding that doesn't stop.
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
