Treatment Of Wounds On The Feet Exposed To Glass Splinters?
Hello doctor. I have a small piece of glass on the soles of the feet saying parts of the big toe. These flakes have been in my saying for 6 days and I am afraid that they will last forever.
Hello Daniel Hakim, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Basically if there is a foreign object (in your case glass chips), the object will remain in its place unless there is an action or thing that makes it detached from the place. However, if there is no action or anything that makes it loose, then the foreign object will remain there and may cause an inflammatory reaction that continues to occur as long as the object remains.
Therefore, you should check the condition of your feet affected by the glass flakes to the doctor to be examined and further determined what actions should be taken to overcome your condition, because if left unchecked, ongoing inflammation can result in infection of the former injuries, abscesses or even cellulitis, where this condition will require further therapy.
In the meantime, you should not press on the parts of your feet that are exposed to glass splints, due to the gentle pressure of the movements that can cause the glass splinters to get deeper into your feet, so it will be harder to remove. Don't try to get it out yourself either, because just like a pressing motion, the wrong move can trigger the splinter deeper. Keep your feet clean, especially the part that is affected by splinters to avoid infection in the wound.
I hope this helps.
