, I’m 36 years old. twin fetuses. she is currently 32 weeks pregnant. On examination the previous month the weight of the fetus was not too far off. but at 32 weeks of gestation, there was a very significant difference in fetal weight. The first fetus is 1 kg and the second fetus is 2 kg. The heartbeats of both fetuses are good. I am confused about how to increase the weight of the first fetus. then what should i do. whether to give birth in these weeks or wait 37 weeks while waiting for the first fetus to gain weight. my condition is fine. amniotic fluid is also still good. And I have done lung maturation therapy for my fetus

Hello Triyani

Differences in the interpretation of fetal weight may be different, although the results are quite large, it does not necessarily mean that the condition of your fetus is like that because it is only an interpretation. The interpretation of fetal weight is usually through an ultrasound examination or by measuring the size of the abdomen of a pregnant woman. In addition, the health of the fetus can be influenced by various things other than body weight.

Lung maturation performed on the mother is considered by whom? If it is an obstetrician who has examined the mother, of course the doctor has consideration for the results of the medical examination that has been carried out by him. Basically, babies are advised to be born after reaching the age of more than 37 weeks, because it is during this period that the baby's organs are perfect enough to be outside the fetus. So, even though your fetal heart rate is still good, it is hoped that you will have more regular check-ups with your obstetrician to be able to monitor the development and progress of your fetus' condition.

The decision when to give birth depends on the results of a medical assessment by an obstetrician and also the condition of the fetus' welfare and the health of the pregnant woman herself. For example, if the fetus is healthy but there are health problems for the pregnant woman, then delivery can be carried out early, and vice versa if the condition of the pregnant woman is healthy but the fetus is disturbed, so that finally it is necessary to give birth to avoid worsening the situation. Or the condition of the mother and fetus are in good health but there have been contractions and signs of early labor, so that if help is not given or delivery can actually harm the fetus or pregnant woman. So that is the importance of antenatal care to determine the development of the health condition of the mother and fetus.
