Twitching Of The Eye Minus When Not Wearing Glasses?
Hello doctor, one more thing I want to ask. I wear glasses with a minus 0.75, but when my glasses are removed my left eye keeps twitching. But when I returned to wearing glasses the twitch stopped. Why doctor? Thank you
Wa'alaikumsallam Shabila. Thankyou for asking.
In people who have nearsightedness, the shadow of the object falls in front of the retina. We can see objects when the shadow falls directly on the retina. In nearsighted people the eye must automatically be constantly accommodated so that the right shadow falls on the retina. This can trigger fatigue in the muscles of the eyeball and the muscles of the eyelid. Twitching can also be caused by eyelid muscles that experience fatigue. When not wearing glasses automatically the eyes will go the extra mile, while when the glasses are re-worn the eyes can rest more.
But eye twitching can also be caused by psychological stress, poor resting patterns, dry eyes (xerophthalmia), excessive caffeine consumption. Try to rest your eyes often. When reading or working with a computer, at least once every hour try to rest for a while, directing your eyes to a distant point. Make sure the room light is bright enough, the reading or working position is right. If necessary, can be helped with eye drops. If the complaint does not improve, you should consult a doctor.
Hope this helps.
