URS Postoperative Procedure.?
… what procedures should I do after URS surgery? Considering I have had URS surgery and I have been in control again, it turns out I was interrupted with a dj stent … when I asked the urologist the doctor was less cooperative to answer. Then how many days can I take off the hose? And what are the risks if I have sex with my husband while the hose is still installed … please give me the info … thank you.
Good morning, thanks for the question
The urethral stent is a soft tube with a length of about 10-12 inches. This stent is in the ureter, the channel that connects the kidneys to the bladder. The purpose of stenting is to keep the ureter open to ensure urine drainage from the kidneys to the bladder. This stent is used for a certain period of time in handling cases of urine flow obstruction. In some cases stents can be removed after a few days, while others can be maintained for a long time. This depends on the severity of the disease and the consideration of the urology surgeon. But in general the stent is removed until about 3 months.
Associated with sexual activity while being attached to the ureteral stent is actually quite risky. Movement during sexual intercourse or other strenuous activities is feared to be able to shift the position of the mounted stent, so it should be avoided until the stent has been removed. Moreover sexual activity may also cause complaints of pain or discomfort while the ureteral stent is still attached. However, you should check with a urologist if you are still in doubt.
That's all, hope you can help
