Use Contact Lenses When You Have A Stye?
In the morning my eyes are stained … can I use a soft lens I feel more comfortable and the pain is less than not wearing it feels more painful … thanks doctor
A stye or hordeolum is a pimple-like lump that grows on the eyelid and can cause complaints in the form of clogged eyes, swollen eyelids, pain, red eyes, watery eyes. Stinks can be caused due to bacterial infection, and triggered by the habit of wearing non-sterile contact lenses, wearing expired cosmetics, and not cleaning cosmetics when going to bed.
The stye generally improves within 1-3 weeks. If within 3 weeks the stye has not improved, you should see a doctor directly so that further tests can be done so that you can be given maximum treatment.
Some tips that you can do during stints:
Warm compress several times a day
Don't squeeze the stye
Avoid rubbing your eyes
Avoid wearing eye cosmetics or soft lenses while still being a stye
You can use the contact lenses again after the stye heals, but make sure your hands and the contact lenses you are using are clean so that stains don't occur again.
Always wash your hands before and after touching your eyes
