Use Of A Liquid To Immerse Contact Lenses?
I am now using the soflens from the Nicelook brand and it irritates my eyes. So I started stopping to use the liquid. And because there is no liquid and haven’t had time to buy it. Can the seflens medicine that is often dropped for the eyes when dry, can be used for soaking? Thank you
Hello, good morning Ivon.
In general, we do not recommend using any other liquid than contact lens fluid for washing and soaking contact lenses. Eye drops specially designed for contact lens wearers can moisturize contact lenses. However, some of these eye drops can be hypertonic to contact lenses, so if they are used to soak contact lenses overnight, they will cause the contact lenses to become dry and uncomfortable when used the next day (or even become unusable). In addition, these eye drops do not kill germs (like a special liquid for washing contact lenses). Some eye drops for contact lenses also contain preservatives, so this can cause the contact lenses to experience structural changes if they are soaked overnight using these eye drops.
