Vaginal Itching At Night At 23 Weeks Of Gestation?
Hi, I am currently 23 weeks pregnant. These few days my vagina often feels itchy, especially at night, even though I’ve routinely changed my underwear. The question is, can I use the pentyliner avail while sleeping? Because I was afraid while sleeping I unconsciously scratched it and it felt sore in the morning. During the day, I usually start to itch every time I wash it with water then I wipe it with a towel, the itching is gone. I’ve tried it once and the itchiness went away when using it. Is it safe? thank you for your answer
Hello Umhiy, Thank you for the question.
Vaginal itching is a common complaint experienced by pregnant women. Pregnancy causes hormonal changes which then cause the vagina to become dry and itchy. In addition, a bacterial infection or yeast infection in the vagina can also cause complaints of vaginal itching. You should consult your gynecologist first about this complaint, especially if this complaint is accompanied by abnormal vaginal discharge, pain during BAK or pain during intercourse, redness or blisters on the vaginal lips. If this complaint is related to an infection in the vagina, this condition should be treated immediately with treatment recommended by a doctor.
The use of pantyliners in general does not solve this complaint and should not be used every day because it can cause the genital area to be more moist. Also do the following recommendations:
avoid scratching the itchy area
clean the genital area with cold water
avoid wearing tight pants
use cotton underwear
consume more water
avoid holding the BAK
avoid using feminine cleansing soap
limit consumption of sweet foods
