Vision Becomes Double After A Head Injury?
After the head injury, my eyes became slightly crossed and saw double … but for the squint gradually improved after doing the method of closing one eye repeatedly (but still double vision) then after using the prism lens aids can see 1 object even though I feel discomfort the use of prism lenses … I want to ask whether the use of prism lenses is some kind of therapy? Can I see normally without seeing multiple objects without a prism lens ?? Is there a solution for the treatment ??? Thank you doctor …
Hello Zhaivilla, Thank you for the question.
Squint or strabismus is a condition in which the position of the two eyes is not parallel and looking in a different direction. This condition is caused by a disruption in the muscles that move the eyeball. In adults, one of the causes is a head injury. Double vision can be caused by squinting eyes. Treatment of squinting depends on the cause and severity of the condition, which can include the use of eye patches, eye exercises, prism glasses, eye drops, botox injections, or surgery.
The use of prism lenses is indeed one of the therapies for squinting eyes. Prism lenses can help focus the eye's vision to overcome double vision, but the use of prism glasses does not improve the disruption in the muscles of the eyeball. Thus, if you don't use prism glasses, you will experience double vision. You should consult with an eye specialist further. If this condition is really bothering you, your doctor may suggest a botox injection or surgery to overcome this.
Hopefully this information is useful.
