Hello Sheila, thank you for your question to HealthReplies.com
Previously I want to confirm first, whether at this time you are also still taking Osfit from your obstetrician?
Pregnant women do need various types of additional nutrients to support the health of the mother and fetus. The following are some important types of nutrients needed during pregnancy:
Folic acid. Folic acid is needed since planning a pregnancy to prevent birth defects in babies. The amount of folic acid needed by women who are pregnant is 400-600 mcg per day.
Iron. Iron is an important element in the formation of red blood cells. Lack of iron during pregnancy will cause anemia in pregnancy which is very dangerous for both the mother or fetus. The need for iron during pregnancy is 27 mg per day.
Calcium. Calcium is very important to support the growth of fetal bones and teeth and prevent the mother's bones from being absorbed much (and becoming porous) during pregnancy. During pregnancy, women are advised to consume 1000 mg of calcium per day, equivalent to 3 glasses of milk.
In addition to the three important micronutrients above, pregnant women certainly still need macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and other micronutrients such as vitamins and other minerals to be able to support a healthy pregnancy.
If you are currently taking pregnancy vitamins from your obstetrician and also your pregnancy vitamins, in fact your folic acid needs are fulfilled, so you no longer need to consume additional folic acid (folic acid) from the health center. Calcium needs cannot be fulfilled by these two vitamins, but if you regularly drink 2-3 glasses of milk a day, then you also do not need to consume additional calcium from your health center as well.
