Hello,. Lately I often wake up during sleep due to shortness of breath, so I have to take a deep breath first. It feels the same as when we hold our breath. I wonder if I didn’t breathe during sleep or the breath is too short huh? How can I not sleep like this anymore?

p dir = "ltr"> Hello, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com
Some conditions can be related to complaints that you submit, namely:
 1. Disease due to stress or psychological factors, such as Nightmare / nightmares or Insomnia.
 2. Respiratory system diseases, such as asthma (generally accompanied by the sound of "ngik", but can also only be heard using a special examination tool, namely a stethoscope), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (caused by smoking or inhaling cigarette smoke) and others.
 3. Heart disease.
 4. Sleep apnue or stop breathing while sleeping. Occurs due to obstacles in the respiratory tract, which is caused by the muscles that support the walls and soft tissues of the throat to relax.
You should consult directly with the nearest doctor so that a thorough and direct examination can be done. Later the doctor will direct you, whether your condition does not need to worry and does not need special treatment or require further consultation with a specialist doctor or enough with the treatment given with the doctor in question.
Meanwhile, avoid eating high-calorie foods in large quantities and eating satiety before going to bed at night. Take a shower with warm water and relax your mind by taking a deep breath which is then released slowly through your mouth (do it repeatedly until you can feel calm). Sleep on your side on the right side of your body.
 Thus hopefully useful.
