Watery Eyes Accompanied By Blood And Feels Sore?
I want it … my wife has red eyes and is stinging due to infection and has gone to an ophthalmologist. -I think it’s dangerous?
Hello Fauzy, thanks for your question
Are you saying the whites of your wife's eyes look bleeding?
If so, the condition in medical language is referred to as subconjunctival bleeding.
You need to know, the human eye consists of 3 main layers, one of which is the sclera (the white part of the eye). The sclera is protected by the conjunctiva, which contains many nerves and small blood vessels. The dilation of these blood vessels will make the eyes appear red, while the rupture of these blood vessels causes the eyes to appear to bleed.
Subconjunctival hemorrhage may occur spontaneously due to fragility of blood vessels. Several things trigger this condition:
severe eye infection
increased pressure in the eyes due to coughing, sneezing, straining
high blood pressure (hypertension)
trauma or impact to the eye
irritation from contact lenses
post eye surgery
Actually, this condition will disappear by itself gradually in a few days to weeks. However, considering your wife's eye was previously infected, it would be nice to be confirmed again by the ophthalmologist who previously treated your wife. The doctor will re-evaluate your wife's eye condition, if necessary the doctor can add or change treatment according to the current condition.
Suggestions for your wife while waiting for a doctor's examination:
avoid touching or rubbing the eyes
cold compress the bleeding eye for 10-15 minutes and can be repeated 3-4 times a day
whenever possible, avoid coughing, sneezing, or straining too hard
rest with the head slightly elevated, for example using 2 pillows
Hope this information is useful
