Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease caused by Dengue virus infection, a virus that is carried and spread by mosquito bites. Symptoms in DHF will usually begin to appear approximately 4-10 days after being bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus. Some symptoms that can be felt include:
pain behind the eyes
joint pain and muscle aches
feeling weak and tired quickly
nausea and vomiting
skin rash (usually appears 2-5 days after the onset of fever)
minor bleeding (gum bleeding, nosebleeds, skin bruises)
Symptoms of dengue can last for 2-7 days. Fever is usually felt in the first 3 days, after which the fever may go down. However, this period of decreased fever does not indicate that the infection has healed. The period of 3-7 days after the onset of fever is a critical phase where there is a potential for leakage of fluid from blood vessels that can cause shock (blood flow to the organs of the body is not good to the organs lacking oxygen). Some of the symptoms that indicate severe DHF include:
severe abdominal pain
can not be silent
the pulse becomes fast
palpable hands and feet cold
If you feel a fever that does not go down after 3 days, accompanied by the symptoms mentioned above, you should immediately see a doctor. Laboratory tests will usually be recommended after the 3rd day. If you feel the symptoms of severe DHF mentioned above, do not delay to go to the doctor immediately.
Symptoms of chills describe fever symptoms accompanied by chills which can indeed be one of the symptoms of dengue hemorrhagic fever.
