What Does Cardiomegaly Mean On X-rays?
what is meant by (cardiomegaly, elongation of the aorta/hdd) on x-ray results?? is it an emergency so it is necessary to immediately see a heart and blood vessel specialist? thx
Thanks for the question. The X-rays that you submitted found an enlarged heart (cardiomegaly), an elongated aortic blood vessel, and hypertensive heart disease (HHD) or heart disease caused by high blood pressure/hypertension. X-rays are one of the supporting examinations that function to support doctors to find the cause of patient complaints. The results of the supporting examination cannot stand alone and must be related to the patient's complaints, the doctor's physical examination, and other supporting examinations. You should again consult with the doctor who suggested this examination because the doctor is the one who knows the patient's complaints and examines the patient. With the results of this examination the doctor can determine the next treatment. If necessary, the patient will be referred to a heart and blood vessel specialist.
Hope this information is useful.
