What Happens To The Heart And Brain If The Elasticity Of Blood Vessels Decreases?
good afternoon, if the elderly is decreased elasticity of blood vessels what will happen to the heart and brain and also especially in the elderly?
Thank you for the question.
The walls of blood vessels are composed of several layers, namely tunica intima, media, and external. In each of these layers, there are various types of cells, including epithelial cells, elastin, collagen, smooth muscle, and other tissues that support it. As we get older, the comparison of the types of cells making up the lining of the walls of these blood vessels will undergo remodeling thereby making the elasticity of the blood vessels decrease. This makes the elderly more vulnerable to hypertension, heart attacks, kidney disorders, strokes and many other degenerative diseases.
The risk of decreased blood vessel elasticity can be controlled by:
Live a healthy diet, especially eating lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that are rich in antioxidants
Do not smoke
Not too much sitting or still
Regularly carry out health control to the doctor, especially if you have genetic risk factors for diseases as mentioned above
Hope this helps ...
