What If TB Drugs Are Missed One Day?
At night, I was sick with tuberculosis and had been outpatient for 112 days. The doctor prescribed 1 tablet ripamficin 450mg u0026amp; 1 tablet of 500 mg inadoxin. But because of my negligence, on the 111th day u0026amp; 112 I only took 2 tablets of rifampicin and skipped taking inadoxin for 2 days. What should I do.??
Hello Senni, Thank you for the question.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the human body that can occur in the lungs or outside the lungs. TB sufferers are advised to take antituberculosis drugs (OAT) for 6-9 months. OAT is given in the form of a combination of several drugs namely rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, ethambutol, and streptomycin, depending on the type of tuberculosis experienced by the patient. This OAT should be consumed every day without interruption in accordance with doctor's advice.
Inadoxin is a drug that contains isoniazid. If you forget to take this medicine for 2 days, you can continue this medication again according to doctor's orders. If you have not been taking medication for 2 months or more then this should get more attention. You can make reminders on your cell phone or ask your family to remind them to take these two drugs, not to avoid them.
Please, you also continue to monitor the side effects of drugs such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, jaundice, urine turns orange. If the complaint is very disturbing, do not hesitate to go back to your lung specialist. Do not forget to always check yourself in accordance with the schedule recommended by the doctor.
Hopefully this information is useful.
