What Illness Do I Suffer?
Assalamuaikum wr.wbHello .. I want to ask, I often feel heartburn and the pain is felt to the back … what do I think it hurts ??? please explain u0026amp; the answer is docThanksWassalamualaikum wr.wb
Heartburn is pain that is felt in the upper center of the stomach. Heartburn can often occur as a symptom of a variety of the following diseases:
Esophageal reflux disease / GERD
Disorders of the billiard system (gallbladder and bile ducts)
Malignancy / cancer of the stomach or pancreas or esophagus
There are so many disorders / diseases that can give complaints of pain in the gut. Even diseases of the system outside the digestion such as pneumonia, pleurisy, urinary tract infections can also be accompanied by complaints of pain in the gut.
The doctor needs to take a further history regarding your complaint, for example:
Since when did you feel the complaint?
When did the complaint arise and gain weight?
What things can reduce the pain in the gut?
What complaints accompany the complaint of pain in the gut? For example fever, nausea and vomiting, heart palpitations, cold sweat, diarrhea, shortness of breath?
Is there a history of indiscriminating pain medication or a history of taking herbs?
There is weight loss?
Previous medical history and treatment that have been obtained?
The doctor also needs to do a direct physical examination to look for clinical signs that are typical for certain diseases. If from anamnesis and physical examination, an appropriate diagnosis cannot yet be determined, supporting examinations such as endoscopy, ultrasonography, CT-scan may be needed to look for abnormalities that cause heartburn.
You need to be vigilant if the complaint of heartburn is felt very severe, accompanied by complaints of vomiting mixed with blood or a thin black chapter, palpitations and shortness of breath, heartburn which then moves and settles into pain in the lower right abdomen accompanied by fever. If there are such symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor.
Management of heartburn generally depends on the causes found from the examination. If caused due to abnormalities in the stomach such as GERD, gastritis, dyspepsia, patients are generally given drugs to neutralize stomach acid (antacids) and reduce the production of stomach acid (H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors) which must be consumed within a period of several days to a period of several days until few weeks. Patients are also encouraged to eat foods with a more soft consistency, smaller portions but more frequent eating frequency. Patients should avoid foods that are too spicy, too sour, and too fatty for a while. Stop consuming caffeinated beverages and alcohol for a while. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
