What Is A Clear Lump On The White Of The Eye?
Hello doctor, good morning. N nI want to make my complaint. 3 days ago I walked kako to a friend’s house and at that time the weather was very hot. When I came home, my eyes got dusty and it was really hot. NWhen I was at home I played my cellphone for about 10 minutes and slept. When I woke up I was shocked when I saw my eyes were red and suddenly there was a lump near the eyeball on the white part and after a few hours the redness disappeared but the lump was still visible when I looked in the mirror. Sometimes the lump looks clear and sometimes looks yellowish. n nI want to ask what is the cause of the lump and is it dangerous? nDid looking at the phone screen for too long cause the lump? nCan the lump disappear by itself? thanks.
Hi Fiona .. Thank you for the question given.
Complaints as described above can be caused by:
Pingueculae - is a tissue growth on the whites of the eye (conjunctiva), usually appears yellowish in color. The trigger factor for pingueculae is frequent exposure to sunlight, exposure to dust, and eye irritation. The appearance of the pinguecula can cause discomfort because there is something stuck in the eye. The doctor can administer eye drops to reduce irritation
Pterygium - The appearance of the membranes in the eyes is accompanied by red eyes, feels itchy, irritated, feels something is stuck, and if it gets wider it can interfere with vision. The causes are: dry eyes, sun exposure, dust, smoke.
If your complaint does not get better, feels itchy, sore, red eyes, then it's a good idea to see an ophthalmologist to get a direct examination so that appropriate treatment can be given. Meanwhile, what you can do:
You can use glasses when outdoors to avoid sun exposure, dust, smoke
Avoid rubbing the eyes
Avoid using eye drops without a doctor's advice
